DISABILITY SUPPORTS Provides Social Work Services and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
 

Specialising in providing social work services to people with a disability, including children and adults and their families.

Services are provided through the use of formal counselling in a therapy room, or outdoors in nature/paddocks.  Therapy is completed with talking, the use of art and play or the use of symbol work.  In addition, a therapy dog or equine assisted therapy is utilised, if requested.

 

All modes of therapy are tailored to meet the wants and needs of the individual and can be interchanged within a session.

WORKING THROUGH lIFE TRANSITIONS

Support the person with a disability and their family to make steps through significant change.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Therapeutic intervention social skills and emotional regulation. This is an activity-based approach to support higher levels of focus and engagement. 

CRISIS INTERVENTION AND MANAGEMENT

Informal counselling and solution-based approach during high stress periods. 

RELATIONSHIP SUPPORT

Helping the individual to understand relationship dynamics and appropriateness of behaviours. And supporting them to foster better relationships both intimate and those with family and friends.

PARENTING SUPPORT

Helping both parents with a disability and parents of children and young adults with a disability to break down the chaos of everyday life when it comes to dealing with complex challenges. Providing guidance on how to manage various difficult situations.

ADDICTION

Supporting people, in particular younger people, facing addiction to a range of legal and illegal substances.

STRESS & TRAUMA

Enabling the individual by supporting them to deal with everyday stressors, significant trauma and also learning to understand and process life stress and trauma.

REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Writing reports for NDIS and supporting families in identifying goals and recommendations for areas of support.

ADVOCACY

Supporting individuals to access the same services as those without a disability. Helping them to 'find their voice' when trying to access information, support and advice on referral.

ANXIETY

Provision of ideas and techniques to allow the individual to manage their anxiety, including identifying triggers and situations, and live a better life.

Experienced in providing professional supervision to social workers and other therapists dealing with complex family dynamics.
